The Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO participated in the 45th Beirut Arab International Book Fair, which was organized, under the auspices of His Excellency the Prime Minister Mr. Rafic Hariri, by the Arab Cultural Club and in collaboration with the Lebanese Publishers Syndicates, in Expo Beirut between 2 and 8 November 2001.
The stand of the Lebanese National Commission comprised a wide range of publications which could be classified under the following major headings:
-Human rights
-Teaching and teachers
-Globalization
-Culture and cultural rights
-Folkloric arts and cultural heritage
-Informatics
-Media
-International peace
-Biotechnologies
-Women
-Racism and apartheid
-History of humanity
-Social development
-Environment
-Education
The stand of the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO was visited by around 350 visitors, most of whom were university professors, schools teachers, students, and researchers in the fields of education, culture, science and communication. Around 800 copies of the National Commission recent publications were offered to those interested.
