The Lebanese National Commission for Unesco, in collaboration with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), organized a regional workshop on “Reproductive Health and Gender Equality”, under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs, Mr. Wael Abou Faour.
The workshop aimed at pointing out the achievements of various Arab and Islamic countries in the field, following the Cairo conference in 1994 and the Doha conference in 2009, at highlighting the needs and problems to be solved, at formulating recommendations to improve reproductive health in accordance with Islamic and human values, and at fighting against harmful customs that threaten the health of women and gender equality.
Participants were experts specialized in women’s issues, and the health of the family and society, coming from Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Egypt, Bahrain, UAE, Algeria, Sudan, Iraq, Palestine, Yemen and Lebanon.

In assuming the roles of liaison, consultation, and communication, also mobilizing and coordinating partnerships with the civil society, the Lebanese National Commission renders substantial contributions to the implementation of UNESCO, ALECSO and ALF programs and to the dissemination of their values and objectives.
